Can you tell me what the size of the archive is? It sounds to me like the download didn't finish properly or something? It happened to me too. It is an issue with itch's network or similar. I had to download it a second time but then it worked all good. The problem is still a huge issue for me.
I've tried chrome, edge and firefox all in alternate download mode multiple times and it still just doesn't work. In chrome i get a download forbidden error, in edge it just stops downloading and in firefox it fails and if i press retry it says it finishes downloading and winrar says that it's in unkown format or damaged.
